The Studio Newcastle Australia opened its doors in 2007, Brainchild of Touring Musician/Producer/Recording Engineer Kenny Jewell. The idea of building a state of the art, professional environment in which musicians could rehearse and hone their skills, whilst being in an atmosphere conducive to creating their own material, had been a dream of Jewell's for years. Over the past 25 years of his professional career Jewell has spent many hours in rehearsal and recording facilities all over the country. During this time one thing was evident, most of these facilities missed the mark in one way or another. Whether it be room size, comfort, inadequate P.A systems in studios, atmosphere, lack of parking, SMELL! none of them ticked all the boxes. "With the exception of the BIG recording studios around the country, most of the rehearsal/pre-production facilities are down right pathetic" says Jewell. " I wanted to build a place that was better than the places I had been to in the past. Not to try and out-do anybody, but to give musicians, in particular the young guys the facilities that they deserve".
The Studio Newcastle has 3 large soundproof, acoustically tuned rehearsal studios, equipped with Mackie P.A systems. All microphones, stands and cables are provided free of charge. The Studio also has a large range of drum-kits and amplifiers for hire for use during rehearsals or recording.
The recording studio boasts one of the best Drum Rooms in town, its also one of the biggest! Combine that with a great Vocal Booth, a very comfortable modern Control Room, great mic selection and an engineer/producer with over 25 years experience, the recording facilities @ The Studio are perfect for everything from tracking a demo, recording radio ads and jingles, recording your E.P or Album or just getting some ideas down live.
The Studio also offers tuition in Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals for any age and skill level, specialising in school students 6-18yo. The Studio has large recreation areas with a pool table and pinball machine, lots of comfy lounges and cold drinks and snacks for sale. The Studio also offers on site storage for equipment. Storage booths can be hired by the week or month at very affordable rates. As well as being a 'flat-load' with trolleys provided, the facilities include a multi level car park (400 spaces!!!!) as well as on street parking. A drive under cover to unload option if it is raining is also available. The Studio is located in the city close to trains, buses, taxies, pub, hotel, italian restaurant, hamburger joint and 2 cafes, All about 1 minute walk from The Studio.
